My New Favorite (but temporary) Show…

With the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 approaching (I really can’t believe it’s been 10 years), there have been countless 9/11 commemorative and informative TV shows coming out of the woodwork.  I’m not sure why but I’ve always been drawn to watching these sorts of programs..but I find that one in particular really stands out above the others.  The series The Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero on the Science Channel reveals the design and poetics behind the 9/11 memorial, park, museum, towers etc at ground zero.  It also delves into survivors’ stories, stories of people whose family members did not survive, and the passion and determination behind the people who are responsible for making this concept become a physical entity.  I don’t think you’ll see many other occasions when a building’s iron worker or water/plumbing technician has such a great emotional attachment to their job.

Anyways, please check out the website or watch the show if you can because the design is amazing and the stories of all people involved in the project are inspiring.
