Food and Recipes

“Think food.  Dream food.  Do food.  Eat food (but less).”

-Vicki Robin

There’s a reason this sections wasn’t just called “recipes.”  I’m a firm believer that food is a lot more than what we put in our mouth for nourishment:  on family/religious occasions you’ll see that it’s nostalgic; the system of government subsidies and corrupted regulations show that food is political; new studies hint that food is medicine or poison; and many people’s disordered relationships with food show us that food is emotional.  As much as I love baking, cooking, entertaining etc., this whole other “dark” and undiscovered side of food and the food industry is what fascinates me.  I may not be a nutritionist, psychologist, lobbyist or pioneer in public policy but thinking about and reading up on these relationships is a part of my everyday life…so I’ve included a few of my favorite reads, movies etc. on the topics.
